New York Rangers prospect Patrik Virta will play for the KHL’s Slovan Bratislava in the upcoming season, the club announced on Twitter today.
Virta scored 14 goals and 40 points for TPS in the Liiga last season and added three points in eight playoff games. He finished third on the team in scoring and his 14 goals equaled his goal totals from the 2016-17 season. He was 57.53% in Corsi which was third-best on his team. He also scored 1.61 primary points per 60 minutes, fourth-best among TPS’ players with at least 100 minutes of ice-time.
Virta’s point totals improved greatly and overall his game is heading in the right direction. He’s a smart player with goal-scoring potential. He has been working on gaining more muscle and he’s becoming stronger in battles. He’ll need to continue to add explosiveness and become a tad quicker. Virta was one of the best young players in the Liiga this past season and his game has steadily gotten better.
