Kärpät goalie Justus Annunen now holds the record for the longest shutout streak in Liiga history. The 19-year-old netminder broke the record in the first period of today’s game against Pelicans. The period is still underway. The previous record, set by Kimmo Lecklin in the 1997-98 season, was 259 minutes, 28 seconds.
Annunen, a Colorado Avalanche third round pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, has been phenomenal on the Liiga this season. Prior to today’s game, he had recorded four shutouts, a 0.85 GAA and .964 save percentage in seven games.
