Hugo Has was one of the standouts from the Czech Republic in a 8-2 win over Switzerland at the U18 World Championship. The towering right-shot defenseman unleashed plenty of shots from the point. He has a heavy, good wrist shot and didn’t need much space to to get shots off his stick. Has moved the puck well out of the zone with hard passes that arrived on the tape. Showed good poise and distribution skills on the power play. He looked more active offensively in the third period, in terms of jumping into the play from the blueline. Possessing a long reach and good strength he managed well in the defensive zone as well. However, he did get caught out of position at times due to being too aggressive in certain situations. He’s a decent skater but could work on his mobility and gain more explosiveness. The mechanics are there, however.
