REPORT: HPK @ HIFK U18, MARCH 3, 2019
Jokinen played on HPK U18 second line and scored two goals in an important win against HIFK. In his first goal, he entered the offensive zone as HIFK was making a line change. He went top shelf with a backhander on the shortside. His second goal came on a 5-on-3 power play with a hard one-timer. Jokinen has a quality shot selection and a heavy, powerful release both his wrist shot and slap shot. He was continuously looking to get pucks on net. His long reach was an asset in puck and stick battles, helping him to acquire the puck. He protected the puck effectively and kept opponents at bay. He also showed fairly good passing skills. A decent skater, Jokinen’s first few strides need work but his speed was pretty good.
REPORT: HPK @ JOKERIT U18, NOVEMBER 22, 2017
Even though Jokinen wasn’t able to get on the scoresheet, he had a really strong game for HPK U18 in a 5-0 loss to Jokerit. Playing alongside Santtu Hakanen and Valtteri Suni, HPK’s offensive opportunities were largely created by this line. Jokinen is a 6’2 right wing with a very quick and heavy shot, as he can shoot without much set up. Has a very good wrist shot, as well as a solid one-timer. He generated many shot attempts both on the power play and even strength, especially during the first two periods. He has good puck protection skills, being able to utilize his size and reach effectively down low and along the boards. Possessing quick hands he can control pucks quite well in tight quarters. He has good top speed, but his acceleration requires improvement, especially due to a recent growth spurt. Jokinen is also fairly mobile with decent agility, stops and starts. A big kid with scoring ability, his development is definitely worth tracking.
