Team: KooKoo

REPORT: KOOKOO @ KETTERÄ, AUGUST 20, 2020

The KooKoo winger was the most noticeable forward on his team as he scored a hat trick which included the game-winning goal in the second period. His first two goals were really good one-timers on the power play, while his third goal was a nice backhand finish on a breakaway. Oden played with fast pace, he could shield the puck well in the offensive zone and find the open man. He could also hold on to the puck and look for a good passing lane instead of moving the puck too soon. He clearly valued possession. He is a very strong skater with a good glide and quick first step. He gets to top speed in a hurry. Expect Oden to have a breakout season as his recent trajectory is trending up.

REPORT: CZECH REPUBLIC @ FINLAND U20, NOVEMBER 9, 2019

Oden showed promise on Team Finland’s first line, playing alongside Anton Lundell and Patrik Puistola, two of the team’s most highly touted prospects. He had some nice poise with the puck and used his teammates effectively for passing options. On one occasion, he made a nice play, driving to the net with outside speed. Skating is his calling card. He is light on his feet with nimble footwork and sharp first steps. A dangerous shooter off the rush, he has an accurate and quick wrist shot, with good technique and mechanics. Oden’s physicality and shift-to-shift consistency remain the main areas for improvement. Additional snarl, intensity and urgency would enable him to win more puck battles and make him tougher to play against. However, I still like his skating, shot and offensive instincts – it will be interesting to see if he can put all the pieces of his game together.

REPORT: KOOKOO @ K-VANTAA U20, MARCH 6, 2019

Oden was noticeable throughout the game and played in all situations in a 3-2 overtime win against K-Vantaa. An agile and fast skater with very good speed, he can be tough to contain off the rush and in the final third. He’s got the ability to make quick turns in tight spaces and he can also create separation from defenders in a hurry. He was often disruptive on the puck carrier as his speed enabled him to close gaps quickly. The winger also displayed good puck handling skills and a solid wrist shot with good velocity on it. He made smart passes in the offensive zone and gave up the puck to his teammates at the right times. Oden could still play a more physical and tougher game, however, his combination of speed and skill makes him an intriguing prospect.
