REPORT: JOKERIT @ HIFK U18, NOVEMBER 3, 2018
Fagerström had a very solid game on Jokerit U18 first line and made an impact at both ends of the ice. His skating looked even better than last season – has a very fluid stride and moves well in all directions. His speed helped him to get to pucks quickly. Once he was in possession, he made smart and quick puck distributions. In the defensive zone, he disrupted opponents and broke up plays with a quick stick. He was constantly alert and aware without the puck. On the downside, he didn’t play an overly physical game and seemed to lack a bit in situational toughness. However, Fagerström’s skating, puck skills and smarts make him an interesting prospect with good potential in the long term.
SCOUTING REPORT (MAY 2018)
Fagerström is a strong-skating, smart center who consistently generated offense in viewings of K-Vantaa U18. He has quick first few strides, allowing to catch opponents and apply pressure on defensemen. He gains speed through smooth crossovers. His top speed, agility and footwork all are very good. His reads are solid without the puck, he gets his stick on the puck and he gets in position to take away passing lanes. He has quick hands and he sees the whole ice, allowing to make quick decisions with the puck. He has a pretty good, accurate wrist shot. Fagerström is not the biggest of players at 5-9, but he has the makings of an offensively productive center at the higher levels. He led K-Vantaa U18 in scoring with 37 points in 49 games this past season.
