UPDATE: JULY 1, 2021
Kulonummi was selected in the CHL Import Draft by the OHL’s Subdury Wolves. At this point, it’s safe to say that he is one of the best 2004 born Finnish players. He reads and processes the game very well and has a high-panic threshold with the puck. You seldom see him make a hasty decision and he chooses the best options available to him while pressured. He is a strong, accurate passer and can adjust the type of pass he uses depending on the situation. He has good mobility and his edges are strong. Kulonummi’s confidence and puck poise have stood out every level he has played at, and this will help him to improve his game as he advances in his career. He can be versatile and should be attractive in the 2022 NHL Draft.
REPORT: KALPA @ JOKERIT U16, FEBRUARY 2, 2020
Kulonummi logged big minutes and had a strong performance for Jokerit U16 in a 3−2 win over KalPa. He showed some nice poise as he was not afraid to hold on to the puck and wait for good passing lanes to develop. More of a puck mover than rusher, but he did generate two pretty good zone entries. His puck protection and stickhandling skills were both good, allowing him to make plays in tight quarters. He had good hands and he made some nifty moves to evade forecheckers before starting the play up the ice. He was confident in his decisions throughout the game. He played with his head on a swivel and showed awareness without the puck. A very athletic right−shot defenseman whose mobility, puck moving abilities and hockey sense stand out at this level.
