Kasper Lundell led HIFK U18 in scoring by a clear margin in 2020-21. He is a smart and relentless winger who consistently makes the right decisions to move the play in the right direction. He can be creative with the puck at times, but seldom tries to make a high risk play that will result in a turnover: doesn’t force the game. Although not the biggest forward, he can protect the puck well to keep opponents at bay. I think Kasper shares a few similar attributes with his older brother Anton, a first round pick of the Florida Panthers: they are good on the power play, have quality passing skills and a competitive spirit. Much like Anton, Kasper is a leader and will be wearing an “A” for HIFK U20 next season. I feel he has the skills and awareness to be a power play option at the next level. He does not have high end quickness or agility in small areas right now. However, once he gets stronger, it’ll be interesting to see if that added strength transitions into a more powerful stride. Kasper may be underrated as a prospect because he had struggled with injuries, but his best hockey awaits.
