Sorvali was the number one defenseman for Tappara U18 in a 5-3 win against HIFK. He played in key situations and made an impact at both ends of the rink. He moved the puck with great accuracy, his long passes out of the zone were crisp and precise. He showed good puck handling skills and composure in his own end when starting the breakout. In the offensive zone, Sorvali unleashed several dangerous shots from the point. He has a heavy release and good wind up on his slap shot. Even though not big in stature, Sorvali managed well in his own end and had a strong stick. He’s also a pretty good skater with some agility and decent backwards skating ability.

Tappara was held scoreless in this U16 game by Blues, however, Sorvali’s strong defensive game was noticeable. He was difficult to get around thanks to his strong, quick stick and solid positioning. His defensive anticipation was excellent and he was active away from the puck from shift to shift. The right-handed blueliner had good four-way mobility – played with good energy level and competitiveness. Sorvali moved the puck effectively under pressure, plus carried the puck all the way into the zone for a clean zone entry in the third period. Overall, his defensive play was what truly stood out.
