Hämäläinen was noticeable in many of his shifts and registered three assists in a 4-3 win over Blues U18. His skating is what stood out the most – he has quick feet, strong edge work and can absolutely fly on the ice. His acceleration generated a lot of quick power and his top-end speed was above-average. He showcased a quick, hard wrist shot, even from further out. He has good hands and puck control, enabling him to make plays in tight spaces. I have considered him more of a shooter than a playmaker, however, today he showed that he can also create for others. He made a nice, long diagonal pass for a zone entry in the third period. He had decent effort without the puck. At times I would have liked to see him process the game more quickly, especially when he had the puck in the offensive zone.

Hämäläinen stood out as one of the best players in the U16 game between Blues and Lukko. He has really quick first few steps and a low center of gravity, making him such an explosive skater and difficult to knock off the puck. Importantly, he knows how to utilize his speed on the rush and oftentimes cuts inside to get to the net with the puck. He showed great scoring drive and determination, which is the way he usually plays. He is fearless and plays with plenty of intensity, constantly being involved on both sides of the puck. Hämäläinen also made a lot of smart puck distributions in the offensive zone.
