Hämeenaho had an excellent season for Ässät U18 and made a smooth jump to the league from the U16’s. He is a very skilled winger who creates lots of offense with his individual play. In many games this past season, he would make multiple plays that catch your attention. He takes very good care of the puck, has poise and attacks with a purpose. His skill level and ability to see the ice stand out especially on the power play, as he gives very good passes, finding cross-ice seams and the open teammate with relative ease. His playmaking skills were the engine of Ässät U18 power play. At 5-on-5, he does not shy away from going to the net and I saw him score several goals from close range. He has a quick stick and can finish on loose pucks and rebounds in tight. Hämeenaho has improved his skating, as he looks quicker and lighter on his skates, and he has smoothed out his stride as well. He can create additional room with cutbacks and tight turns in the offensive zone. Defensively, he has an active stick to disrupt opponents, but further improvement is needed. Overall, Hämeenaho is a promising right-shot winger, who still has room to develop in many aspects of the game.
