REPORT: Ässät @ HIFK, AUGUST 29, 2019
Killinen had a decent game in a 3-2 loss to HIFK. Ässät looked out of gas in the second period under HIFK’s heavy forecheck pressure and Killinen cooled off somewhat towards the end of the game. He did make some plays and played with more energy and tenacity than in some of my previous viewings. His play off the puck also looked improved from last season. He is a strong, powerful skater with good quickness in his first few strides, plus he’s mobile for his size and tough to contain on zone entries. At the moment he seems to lack the most in hockey sense and offensive instincts. He is unable to make the right play with the puck at times, especially in tight spaces and along the boards, which causes him to give up the possession. However, Killinen has a lot of raw potential, given his combination of size, speed and skill, and I could see him put up 20+ points in the Liiga this season.
