Hakkarainen centered the first line for the Muskegon Lumberjacks in a 3-2 playoff win over the Chicago Steel. He played a strong, dependable game in all three zones. He gave the Lumberjacks a 2-1 lead after scoring on a rebound. He went to the side of the net displaying good offensive instincts and anticipation. Hakkarainen has very good stickhandling skills and his passing to the wingers was precise and effective. He played with good jump and did not quit on plays, constantly being energetic and taking hard strides without the puck. Howewer, his first few strides could be quicker and that is something he must work on before starting his pro career. Hakkarainen was strong at face-offs. He made a very good defensive play in the third period as he lifted an opponent’s stick to deny a good scoring chance from the Steel.
