REPORT: JYP @ HIFK U16, MARCH 27, 2018
Lappi made 27 saves and allowed two goals in a 4-1 loss to HIFK U16. He read the developing play well and showed good patience in the crease. The 5’7 goalie possessed impressive quickness as both his reactions and glove hand were sharp. He made one tremendous desperation save to deny a great HIFK scoring chance. In addition, he showed good agility outside the crease and stopped pucks properly behind the net. He was also able to handle the puck well and move it to his teammates with relative ease.
REPORT: JYP @ HIFK U16, NOVEMBER 12, 2017
Lappi was the cornerstone in net for JYP U16 as they beat HIFK 3-2 in a close game. He made 35 saves in the game – including 15 in the third period – and performed really well in key moments. Lappi may not have the prototypical size of today’s goalie, however, he is technically sound and has good skills. He has a quick, consistent glove. His lateral quickness and overall skating ability were at an advanced level, allowing to make some tough saves. He showed athleticism. His play reading and positioning were also solid. Lappi already played for the U16 national team against Germany in October and should have a good chance to be selected for the upcoming tournaments
