REPORT: KALPA @ HIFK U18, SEPTEMBER 7, 2019
Kuiri played left wing on KalPa U18 second line and got also power play time in a 2-1 win over HIFK. He wasn’t around the puck a whole lot in the first period but he was more involved offensively during the last 40 minutes. He showed good hockey sense and played a simple, yet efficient with the puck without much flash. Kuiri had very good speed and took hard strides without the puck. His skating mechanics need some work as he could smooth out his stride a bit. He forechecked well on one occasion in the second period and went to the net on a consistent basis today. He was highly competitive, energetic and played with a bit of an edge at times. He has shown a very good, hard shot in previous viewings but could not put his shooting abilities on display today. He did record a secondary assist on the power play in the game’s opening goal, however. Overall, it was a positive sign that he was able to have an impact despite not being overly noticeable offensively.
