REPORT: HIFK @ BLUES U20, OCTOBER 21, 2018
Hirvonen continued his strong play on Blues U20 first line against HIFK. He gave his team a 1-0 lead with a great one-timer on the power play. It was his 11th goal of the season. He constantly read the game, making himself available for passes, and showed great anticipation to get in position quickly. He’s quick with good agility and acceleration. Hirvonen can be a dual threat as he’s capable of being both a shooter and playmaker. He’s crafty and skilled. On one occasion, he made a great move to get around the defender through the wing. He can both give timely passes and also be a good pass receiver himself. One of his best plays was a great backdoor pass to set up a scoring chance in the third period. He did force some shots on the power play and those attempts were not successful, often getting blocked. All in all, Hirvonen is a very smart and talented center with plenty of potential.
