Liikonen was promoted to KooKoo’s Liiga team and left a positive impression in this preseason game. He played an effective game in all areas of the ice and he was around many positive plays. He wasn’t flashy but got the job done. He was tough in his own end and limited time and space along the boards. However, in one situation he wasn’t alert enough while protecting the net front and Ketterä scored a goal. He gave simple, short passes on a regular basis and showed some poise with the puck. He had a hard shot, precision could have been better. I feel Liikonen has a chance to develop into a solid Liiga defenseman, especially if he improves his puck play and skating. He has an effective approach both offensively and defensively.
